& Who am I?

My name is Mie. (It rhymes with 'my'. I'm practically a pronoun.) I’m a pop music enthusiast from Austin, Texas. However, I’m currently attending school at Berklee College of Music as a songwriter in Boston. This blog is my personal website for promoting my own music as well as a blog where I can ramble about pop music in all of it's many forms.

I'm 19 years old. I live alone in a small studio apartment one of the busier streets in Boston. I've had the same girlfriend for nearly 4 years. Her name is Alexandria. Props to her for dealing with the obnoxious and erratic behavior of a guy who eats, sleeps, and breathes pop music - most of the time girl bands.

I'm a classically trained pianist of about 14 years now. I trained competitively, and attended Interlochen Arts Academy my junior year of high school. After that year I decided to part with my classical music studies and pursue an education and eventually a career in the pop music industry.

After college, I plan to look for work as a staff writer with a label or firm and/or continue to perform my own material as a solo pop musician.

When I am not working on school related work, I spend my time expanding my songbook, working on demo material, and putting together ideas for pop showcases.

I am currently working on my third album of demo material which will actually be a revamped re-issue of my second demo album called "White Trees". This third work will be called "The Prophecy". It is a theatrical electropop work. The entire body of work will be centered around a live show that I am currently finishing putting together. The live show should begin around the end of November in Boston, move to Austin for a showcase in December/January, and really begin in Boston starting in early 2010.

The first bit of new work from "The Prophecy" will be released in November 2009 in a new EP entitled "The Prophet". It will showcase a brand new clubby-pop-romp song that was played in its early stages during shows supporting "White Trees". The EP will also feature 4 other brand new tracks as well as an extended version of "Seaweed".

Music

The Prophet EP will be released as a digital download on November 6th. It features 5 brand new songs, an extended version of Seaweed, and an iTunes digital booklet. Physical copies of the EP will be available in January. Come back on November 6th to download the ep for free.
